Fun in the Sun

Wow what a crazy month it’s been for this pod!

I finally got some paint on the walls at the house and did the guest bedroom for my girlie-pop, Helen and her family. The boys slept upstairs with my kids and they had an absolute blast of a sleepover with their besties for 4 nights!

Whilst the men went off to Download Festival (happy for them, not my vibe!), we had so much fun! Garsons Farm is great for strawberry picking, Hampton Court Palace to run around the grounds and go to their amazing playground, and Bocketts Farm is a family favourite of ours. We spent 5.5 hours there!

To round off the month, Kyle went to Canada to play golf so I had to step up my solo parenting skills. Golf trips…they seem to happen a lot in our summers. I am however hoping to go see Helen up north while she is still in the UK for the summer. She was thinking we could do the day in York which I’ve never done before so that should be fun! Girls trip!

This month’s picks are all “new pod” inspired, and staples in our everyday family life, from cooking to laundry to entertainment.

My mum got these John Lewis Pans about 17 years ago and they look neat brand new, so I went and treated us to some new ones for the house.

This portable TV Stand is my absolute favourite thing for having our tv in our room. We have a Samsung Frame TV on ours but you really can put any TV on here.

This is the BEST Pasta Scooper I have ever used - it will change the pasta game in your household! Buon appetito!

Since owning a freestanding Clothes Steamer, I honestly have to question why I have never had one before - silly me! This is so easy to use and works so quickly. No need for pulling out the ironing board anymore.

Introducing our newly decorated guest bedroom! I painted the walls Setting Plaster by Farrow and Ball, I love it so so much. I did the walls in a matt finish and the doors + trim in a satin finish.

When you’re decorating, don’t skip out on buying some GOOD brushes - my favourite are from Purdy, which are made in the USA but they wash so well!

The bed is a beautiful linen bed from Ikea - a classic for when you’re furnishing a new home, all at fab prices! And the bed sheets are from a small shop called Sukun I saw on an Instagram AD.

I was so excited to FINALLY release my podcast “Don’t Touch It” and the first episode dropped on YouTube and Spotify.  Thank you so much for all of your feedback! I am listening to it all and I’m so excited for the next episode to come on the 16th July.

This is a new venture for me and like most things that are new it’s terrifying but I know in time I will get better.  Love you all so much for your support.

…Oh and casually was on TWO billboards in London. One in Leicester Square and the other at Stratford.

Summer’s here - make your home the BBQ and party spot with this Yeti Cooler, our biggest non-golf souvenir from the U.S., covered in travel stickers and ready for more.

Since the military, my go-to for house and yard work has been tactical gloves. Mechanix makes tough, padded versions or these standard ones for more general tasks. If they can handle tank work, weeds are no match!

A new house = endless tasks, and countless “Honey, can you…?” This Stanley tool bag keeps your most-used tools handy, and if you organize it right, you’re set for 90% of that honey-do list.

School holidays are coming up and so this means summer camps and family days out - aka peak packed lunch season.

This is our family’s favourite lunch box that we now have in two colours, purple and pink. It also comes with an easy-to-open thermos container, that’s leak proof and means you can easily bring hot food out too.

I love these Cutters so much because it makes the kids food fun and really encourages them to eat. For the faces in the sandwiches, I made the eyes using the end of a straw and the mouth with a dessert spoon. Cute right?!

And if you fancy more options for your day out snacks, this Lunch Box is perfect!

No.1 - Say NO to dry sandwichesWet and then ring out some kitchen roll, and then place it on top of the sandwich before closing up. They’ll stop drying out and you won’t be left with a crusty sandwich!

No.2 - Keep hot food H.O.T.

While preparing the meal, fill up the thermos with boiling water so that the food isn’t hitting a cold container.

No.3 - No more brown fruit

Squeeze a bit of lemon or lime on the apple slices to keep them from going brown. You’ll thank me later - no more excuses for your kids to not eat their 5-a-day!
